Abstract (EN)
Modernism is the term that expresses the enlightenment period and the century it covers in its continuity with cognitive and scientific approaches. The process, in which the industrial revolution and scientific technological accelerations accelerated, brought along the spiritual problems of the industrial society after the development. The voice of the society, which did not want to be assimilated in these innovations, was reflected in art. Over time, the concept of modernism has been used to define the concept of modernity, which corresponds to a certain time of art. In this process, artists, who are a part of the society, sought innovation behind their inventions, defended the concept of art for art, from art for society, and sought innovation with increasingly individualized original attitudes. As a result, they caused the birth of many avant-garde movements to be referred to as modern art movements. The currents of the twentieth century in an abundance never seen before; Starting from the last periods of the Impressionism movement, they searched for the form and then resorted to deformations in order to seek the essence of the form and then to reach the expression of the reflection of the essence of the form to the artist's inner world. In this research, modern art movements starting with impressionism and continuing; The place of deformations in the techniques applied by fauvism, expressionism, futurism, cubism, abstract painting and surrealists has been examined and explained.
