Abstract (EN)

The Kula Volcanic Field, located in Western Anatolia, is the owner of settlements whose volcanic output is very active and considered young. Basically, it is known that the Paleozoic aged Menderes Massif is dominant. In this region, there are 99 monogenic origin centers of Quaternary aged settlements known in three different universes. The receiver function analysis method is used in the field of seismology to obtain information about crustal thickness and Moho topography by using three component seismic stations. In addition, this method uses teleseismic body waves, which are waves that come from a distance of 30 degrees or more. Within the scope of the study, 178 teleseismic data with instrumental magnitudes of 6.7 and 5.8 Mw recorded in a total of 13 speedometer seismic stations and between the epicentral distances (30° ≤ ∆ ≤ 90°) to the determined center point were used. The data obtained were grouped, the appropriate Gaussian filter parameter was selected, and it was aimed to obtain information about 1D S-wave velocity models and shell thickness with the help of programs and software determined by inversion. According to the results obtained, it was observed that the crustal thickness of the Kula Volcanic Region and its vicinity was between 28-29.9 km and it was weathered with a crustal thickness of 38-44.5 km obtained around the Menderes Massif Core Complex. It is largely compatible with previous studies and data obtained in Western Anatolia. Moho depth values of 20-25 km for Western Anatolia are partially consistent and indicate that this zone, which is expected to exhibit low Vp velocity, has been penetrated to a depth of at least 35 km, considering the visco-elastic material behavior of the melt regions. In addition, the 29.9 km value obtained for the Moho depth was found to be in agreement with the petrological data.
