Abstract (EN)
Sand has become a very important mineral for the societies. By the expanding industry and building sector it has increased for need sand. It is used more concrete as the societies are developing. Sand mainly used beach nourishment for shore protection, building roads and building dams. Filling coastals and land reclamation is one immediate consequence of the rapid expansion of urban areas in coastal regions. A more recent development is large scale offshore mining for sand for the increasingly popular beach nourishment programmes.Sand mining in coastal areas is subjected to different arrangements in whole world. Sand mining in shallow depths can be applied easily. As a result of sand mining in this areas sand hole/holes occurs. These holes cause changes in wave progress and sediment transport. Erosion in general context at sandy beaches occurs by this applications as receding of the shoreline.Detail of researchs require to better understanding the impact of sand pits in shallow water on the bottom morphology. While monitoring of extraction sites is now required and can help us understand how the morphology of sand pits evolves depending on the local physical processes (waves, currents, geometric characteristics of the pit, bottom slope, sediment size etc.), we need to be able to predict long term evolutions in order to reduce negative impacts due to poor coastal management. The most important parameter is wave effect in sand transport. For this reason in this study, sand pits which is excavated for sand mining were analogied to sand pits with different geometries which were excavated at the rigid boottom in wave channel and investigated these sand pits how affected the wave conditions.
