Abstract (EN)
The aim of this thesis was to demonstrate the relationships of several physiologic, biomotor and anthropometric parameters with rowing performance and investigate usability of these parameters to develop rowing 2000 m. performance prediction formula. The other important aim was the practicality and economy of developed prediction formula which include the results of tests that needs minimum expertise level.18 junior male elite rowers (17.38 ± 0.6 years) participated in this study. Anthropometric, strength, speed, jump, flexibility, 2000 m. maximal rowing ergometer test, rowing ergometer anaerobic power test values of subjects were measured. Gas kinetics and lactate responses during the progressive incremental rowing ergometer test was examined. Multiple linear regression procedures were used in SPSS 16 statistics software to constitute 4 different regression formulas which uses anthropometric measurument results, non-rowing specific performance test results, rowing specific performance test results and physiological test results. Statistical significance level was set at p<0.05.The standard errors of estimation of formulas which constituted by using the results of anthropometric measurements, non-rowing specific performance tests, rowing specific performance tests and rowing specific physiological tests were determined as 3.94, 4.06, 3.88 and 2.36. s. respectively. As a conclusion, although the prediction formula which constituted by using the results of rowing specific physiological tests have lower standard error of estimation value than other formulas; it?s the most disadvantaged formula in terms of economy, practicality and need of expertise. The other formulas which constituted by this thesis research are more suitable and advantageous in terms of economy, practicality and need of expertise and these formulas predict performance at sufficient reliability. Keywords: Rowing, VO2Max, Anaerobic Threshold, Lactate, Performance Prediction Formula.
