The increasing role of multinational companies in the globalizing world and their impact on the coups in Latin America: Examples of Guatemala, Chile and Bolivia

Abstract (EN)
Today's international relations are required to consider not only states, also existence of non-state actors. For example, both in numbers and activities of multinational companies (MNCs) which are one of these non-state actors have increased with globalization.The increasing roles of multinational companies in the globalizing world are not limited with economic activities anymore. So much so that they have been able to undertake a function shaper the policies of underdeveloped nation states. Moreover, these companies were able to have role in the coups staged in these countries in case of benefit conflicts with them. In this study, the place and roles of multinational corporations in the globalizing world, their effects on the state policies and their roles in coups through three examples in Latin America were investigated. In the completed study, it has been observed that those multinational corporations, which increased the roles with globalization, are not always limited with economic activities, especially could have negative impact on state policies of underdeveloped countries. Moreover, it has been observed in the analyses upon Guatemala, Chile and Bolivia from Latin America countries that the mentioned multinational corporations had a role in the coups.
