Abstract (EN)
Globalization is a concept that is used extensively to explain economic, political, social and economic developments and changes on a global scale. Globalization is indeed one of the most important cases that affect human life today. With the arrival of the 21st century, the distance between individuals has disappeared as a result of the Internet's rapid influence on human life. Globalization, which eliminates distances and dims the differences, has influenced the performance of works of art in many areas from production structure to content production. As a global cinema, Hollywood has been stripped of all kinds of national ties as a result of various effects and has built a transnational discourse in the cinema with the effect of this stripping. The main element that constructs this discourse is the markedly recurring themes such as the universe, planet, space, and interplanetary especially in the post-2000 Hollywood cinema. In addition to cleansing space and time from borders, Hollywood cinema adds to addressing identity and culture in a transnational dimension. The characters released in a timeless and space-free universe move away from the image of being the carrier of a certain identity and culture. In this study, how Hollywood cinema constructs transnationalism in cinema and through which factors it establishes this orientation is examined. The transnational tendency of Hollywood has been analyzed with the method of semiotic analysis on movies that reached the highest number of audiences worldwide and achieved the highest box office success between 2000-2018, by including the results of transnational studies in the cinema until today. As a result of the examination made on movies, it has been revealed that Hollywood has an imperialist structure as an ideological cinema rather than a national one. Factors such as the dominance of Hollywood – based on the economic power of America which emerged as a superpower from the First World War - and having deep ideological traces that idealized the American lifestyle transformed Hollywood from being a national cinema and turned it into a transnational structure with its formal and content features. In addition, it has been revealed that the cinematic universe that Hollywood has constructed regarding identity, culture, time and space in cinema facilitates the production and maintenance of hegemonic ideology in cinema.
