Abstract (EN)
Globalisation is a social, cultural, economical, political and legislative process that expresses the abolishment of national borders and entegration of nations to the whole world. The term globalisation started to be used intensively espacialy in 1980?s. However, the concept was established in the 15th. and 16th. centuries during the geoprapical expeditions.The process of globalisation has four effects on an country such as economical, political, social and cultural. In the study the concept of social polarisation is dealt with in the context of globalisation. The reasons of social polarisation; inequality of national income, the transformation in the econamic structure, the reformation of conditions in labour market and the increase of migration. The consequences of these reasons are unemployment, poverty, increase in crime rate, changes in urban structure and vocational polarisation. Shortly, globalisation is a multi - dimensional concept. These different dimensions and different situtions of countries cause all the countries to be affected differently.Some of the researches done in the fields of globalisation, the inequality of national income and social polarisation show that globalisation increases the inequality of national income, whereas some of the results show just the opposite. The inequality of national income one of the reason which leads to societal inequality and social polarization. In this thesis that was prepared within these topics, it is confirmed that there is a relation between the globalization and social polarisation.In this study, a cross-section analysis was done for European Union which is inclusive 27 Developed Countries for the year 2008 to spot the relation between the globalisation process and the social polarisation. And The result was globalisation process effects social polarisation in good way for European Union Countries.
