Abstract (EN)

This study presents an investigation that relied on the idea of improving the realistic scheduling capability of an ERP system by integrating with a developed simulation application. The proposed model is composed of two consecutive stages; application of a scheduling algorithm on the ERP, and increasing functionality of this application by using simulation optimization techniques. The developed model gets bi-directional advantages. Not only the performance of the ERP application can be extended with help of simulation, but also some of the simulation model's natural difficulties such as retrieving real-time and reliable data can be resolved by ERP. In this study, the background of scheduling problem and simulation optimization methodology are given firstly in view of literature. Then to enhance the functionality of a dynamic scheduling system, an integrated simulation-ERP model is developed and applied to a carpet manufacturing case. In this application, statistical data collected about different working environment by using ERP system's database and analised by Simufit®. Carpet manufacturing environment is modelled by ProcessModel® and integrated with ERP system by user interface. So a dynamic scheduling application framework is constructed. The results show that more realistic lead times are estimated and mean tardiness is reduced. As a conclusion, it is said that the integrated simulation modeling application can add a significant value to the existing ERP systems and that future research should be done in order to automate the data analysis process so as to enhance the adoption of simulation techniques for the current ERP application.
