Abstract (EN)

Mercy is one of the broadest concepts with meaning often emphosized in the Holy Qur'an. The importance of this concept is expressed by the verse "My mercy is all- encompassing." (Araf 7/156) However, the first name used by the Almighty Creator after the name of Allah is derivative a merciful from the word mercy. Again, the names Rahman and Rahim are included in the basmala, which is accepted as the beginning of everything and which Muslims don't let go of in their daily life. At the same time, the concept of mercy is mentioned when Muslims greet each other. In this project, we examined the place and meaning of the concept of Rahman in the Qur'an and in different branches of science. However, we have identified the hadiths in which the concept of mercy is mentioned in Qutub al-Sitta. The aim of our study is to reveal the meanings of the concept of mercy to the extent possible, to ensure that this concept is understood in the most accurate way, and as a result, to contribute to the knowledge of Allah's mercy and compassion. As a result of our study, it has been seen that the concept of mercy has a very wide range of meanings and that the Qur'an also uses mercy in meanings that are not included in the dictionaries. In different branches of science, it has been determined that the concept of mercy is used in meanings close to its dictionary meanings such as pity and forgiveness. It has been observed that the hadiths containing the concept of mercy in the Qutub al-Sitta are mostly used in the form of prayer.
