Hydrogeochemistry and human health effect of groundwater surruonding Kuyucak-Durasalli (Aydın province)

In this study, the hydrogeochemical features of 14 different wells and natural spring waters surruonding the Kuyucak – Durasallı vicinity of Aydın province, located in the west of Turkey, were investigated. The geological and hydrogeological structure of the study area was investigated. The risk of human health effects of the analyzed waters from springs and wells for, dermal and oral utulization were evaluatedaccording to 'Cancer risk assessment method of waters' prepared by USEPA. Physical and chemical parameters of the water sampled; Electrical conductivity (EC), pH, temperature (T), Total dissolved substance value (TDS) wete measured in situ, major anions and cations (K+, Ca+2, Mg+2, HCO3-1, SO4-2, Cl-1) and trace elements (Al, As, B, Ba, Br, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) were analyzed in the laboratory. All the waters were evaluated by means of Piper, Schoeller, Wilcox and USA Salinity Laboratory Diagrams. Suitabality of Irrigation. The results of the analyzed waters according to TSE-266 (2005), WHO (2011) show that, all the water samples from the field ara suitable for drinking and irrrigation except the samples; KYC-1, KYC-7, KYC-9 and KYC-12 samples. According to SAR, %Na, MT, PI, ESR, TDS, KR parameters, the quality of the waters and utulization features were searched. The effects of water on human health according to USEPA (United States Environmental Agency) in the point of dermal and oral utulization risks of water which have been calculated by taking into account parameters such as duration, intensity and frequency of human exposure to this water, average human weight and skin area, pollutant values that can cause cancer risk determined.
