Abstract (EN)

The objectives of this study are biological, serological and molecular detection of CMV and ZYMV in cucurbits growing in Turkish Rebublic of Northern Cyprus provinces between 2006 and 2007. Collected samples suspected to be CMV or ZYMV were firstly tested with ELISA test and infection ratio for CMV and ZYMV was determined as 8.07% and 34.5%, respectively. Mix infection ratio of CMV and ZYMV was 7.4%. CMV and ZYMV positives were coded and used for mechanical inoculation. The symptoms were observed on indicator plants in 15- 30 days after inoculation. Total RNAs were extracted from infected indicator plants and used for RTPCR method. The respected size of bands with 250 and 650 bp were observed on agarose gel electrophoresis for CMV and ZYMV respectively. Key Words: CMV, ZYMV, ELISA, Mechanical Inoculation, RT- PCR
