Abstract (EN)

42 ten-week old male Wistar-Albino rats were used in this study, which were categorized into 6 different groups of equal numbers. The Control group(Group1) was given only saline i.p. The hypertension group, was given 40mg/kg L-NAME dissolved in saline i.p for 4 weeks. L-NAME+FUM150mg Group, it was given both 40mg/kg L-NAME for 4 weeks and additionaly 150mg/kg Fumaria Officinalis extract for last 2 weeks dissolved in saline i.p. respectively. L-NAME+Fum300mg extract Group, it was given both 40mg/kg L-NAME for 4 weeks and additionaly 300 mg/kg Fumaria Officinalis extract for last 2 weeks dissolved in saline i.p. respectively. FUM150mg group, was given 150 mg/kg Fumaria Officinalis extract dissolved in saline i.p. for 2 weeks. FUM300mg group, was given 300 mg/kg Fumaria Officinalis extract dissolved in saline i.p. for 2 weeks. At the end of 4 week, the systolic blood pressure was measured and evaluated statistically. In the groups given L-NAME accompanied by Fumaria Officinalis, systolic blood pressure were observed to have decreased remarkably. No significant change could be determined for the parameters in ether Fumaria Officinalis or Control group. There was no statistically significant difference between L-NAME and other groups in this respect. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that 150mg/kg and 300 mg/kg Fumaria Officinalis decreased blood pressure of L-NAME induced hypertensive rats.
