Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this master's thesis, various frequency experiments in the vibratory tank have been carried out in the hydraulic and coastal-harbor engineering labrotory of YTU, so as to evaluate the seismic response of L-type quay walls. The L sized model which is reduced by 1/10 scale has been utilized in the expreimental studies. The back side of the L-model -representing the backfill- has been filled by stone chip which has 40o internal friction (Φ) and 0,9 cm median grain diameter (Dn50) whereas the front side -representing the marine environment- has been filled by the water. Vibratory tank, which has been used to imitate the eathquake action, has been shaken in different predetermined frequencies such as 3Hz, 4Hz, 5Hz and 6H. By doing so, acceleration, soil pressure, pore-water pressure and displacement of L-type quay walls have been evaluated. The parameters obtained from the experimental data have been converted into graphs and interpreted.
