Dr. Kadriye ÖZTURK This study searches for the answer to this question ; " Can Anadolu University Education Faculty German Language Education Department students make critical analysis of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's Fables. In this research it is aimed to demonstrate the case of these students' analysis of Lessing's six Fables and suggest the use of Lessing's Fables as lecture materials in German Language Education Departments in Turkey. Pluralistic and empiric methods are used as the methods. Generally Bernd Matekowski's analysis method is used to perform measurement test for the evaluation of interpreting ability. Data of test subjects were obtained by two questionnaires and a test. Data collected was done by the help of qualitative and statistical techniques. Then, the results of these data were interpreted by the use of tables. Finally, suggestions regarding to the use of Fables in the lectures of German Language Education Departments in Turkey were made. The results of the tests, which were applied to the students of Anadolu University Education Faculty German Language Education Department, showed that students have the ability to interpret Lessing's Fables. The reasons of easy interpretation of Lessing's Fables are being goal orientedness, far from literary embellishing, brief and pure. In conclusion, the use of fables as lecture materials in reading skills I, II, speaking, literary text research and education lectures is suggested.
