Orchestral conductor as a leader

There is an important role of conductor on development of the sprit of orchestra. The leadership? character is also extremely important for the conductor who guides the orchestra in order to be able to reaching of the performance to the best level, thanks to his knowledge, capacity and experience. In this resaarch, it has been scuritinized the leadership relations of conductoship and leadership types of Turkısh conductors respectively. It has been used the qualitative and quantitative research technics in this research where it has been also emhasized the interaction between social sciences and art discipline accordingly.It has been used in this research, which was realised within the frame of situational leadership of Fiedler, the scales of Less Preferable Orchestra Element (ETEOE ? LPOE?) and Leader Activity Level (LED ?LAL?) belongs to Fiedler. The said scales have been filled by Turkish conductors and the data obtained have been analysed in line with the statistics technics.It has been determined the fact that most of conductors whose leadership types have been analysed in line with the age, sex, education, type of orchestra and the type of leadership inclined to the relation. And this has been considered as a negative attitude from the point of stuationalty. As a result of the resarch, it has been determined that most of conductors were recpectful on their relation with their community frankly, participan during the duties and their performance on the other hand were good generally. Again, high number of conductors who bear autockratic leadership type may create negative effects on the performances of their orchestra respectively
