The effect of the emotional abuse in high school adolescents to success

Emotional abuse is defined as treating to child or adolescent in an offending manner. Using every kind of negative stimulant which hinders the child or adolescent from perceiving, evaluating and developing his body or personality means abuse in the emotional sense. The concept of emotional abuse has become an important factor affecting the adolescent?s life.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotional abuse on the success of high school adolescents. The population was chosen from the 9th, 10th and 11th grade students studying at a public school in Beykoz in academic year 2007?2008. The sources and data were carefully studied. Scanning method was utilized. Data were collected with a questionnaire. While analyzing the data demographic variables were grouped, then the scales were marked. Data analyses were confirmed with Independent Samples T test, One-way Variable Analysis (ANOVA) and Scheffe Test as a complementary post hoc technique.It was concluded that emotional abuse in the family is related to gender, parents education and income level. High school adolescents who are emotonally abused are less scuccessful at school.
