Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted in order to Decipher the relationship between the motivations of high school students to play digital games and their motivations to participate in physical activity. The research universe consists of high school students from 10 schools affiliated to the Istanbul Provincial Ministry of National Education in the 2022-2023 academic year. The sample of the research consists of 786 volunteer students. The "Personal Information Form", "Digital Game Playing Motivation Scale", "Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale" used to determine the demographic information of the participants prepared by the researcher were used as a data collection tool in the study. SPSS 22 Package program was used in the analysis of the data. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used as nonparametric difference tests. Pearson correlation and Spearman rank correlation were applied from parametric tests for relationship tests. Findings, it was found that the motivation to play digital games and the motivation to participate in physical activity are influenced by variables such as the individual's age, gender, type of high school and the educational level of their parents. While the motivation to play digital games and the motivation to participate in physical activity have high correlations in their sub-dimensions, it has been observed that there is a significant but low relationship between the two scales in general. Keywords : Physical Activity, Digital Game, Motivation
