Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the relationship between the motivation of high school students to participate in physical activity and the obstacles to participation in physical activities. For this purpose, survey model was used among the relational research methods in the research. While the universe of this research consists of students studying in the 2021- 2022 academic year in high schools in the city center of Balıkesir, the sample consists of 861 high school students studying in Bandırma district of Balıkesir province. In the study, "Personal Information Form", Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale (FAKMÖ) and "Physical Activity Participation Barriers Scale" (FAKEÖ) scales were used as data collection tools. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 program. According to the results of the normality analysis made for the data during the analysis process, it was decided to use the Mann Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis H Test because the data did not show normal distribution. In addition, Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between high school students' motivation to participate in physical activity and barriers to participation in physical activities. It was found that there was a significant relationship between the motivation of high school students to participate in physical activity and the factors that prevent participation in physical activity. Accordingly, the H1 hypothesis of the research was accepted and the H0 hypothesis was rejected. It was found that there was no significant difference between the gender, grade level, monthly income level and duration of technology use and motivation to participate in physical activity of the high school students participating in the study. In addition, it was found that there was a significant difference between the type of school and daily sports duration of high school students and their motivation to participate in physical activity.
