Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of different substrates used as growing medium in lisianthus cut flower cultivation on plant growth and flower quality were investigated. 'Arena II White' and 'Arena II Kilimanjaro' varieties were used as plant material, cocopeat and perlite were used as growing mediums. Planting was done in the soil as a control medium. In relation to plant growth in the study; plant height, number of branches, number of knuckles, plant's fresh and dry weight, leaf area, leaf color; in terms of flower quality, number of plant buds, flower diameter, flower length, pedicel length, the flower's fresh and dry weight and flower color parameters were examined. Cocopeat showed better effect on plant growth and flower quality than perlite medium. It was found that; In cocopeat medium, 'Arena II White' plant cultivar had a plant height of 47,91 cm and a number of branches of 1.88; in the 'Arena II Kilimanjaro' variety, the plant height was 53,11 cm and the number of branches was 1,36. Regarding flower quality, 'Arena II Kilimanjaro' cultivar had a pedicel length of 93,01 mm and flower length of 64,55 mm. Although lower results were obtained in perlite mediums than coconut peat medium, 'II Arena II White' cultivar with a flower diameter of 79,56 mm and a number of plant buds of 11,25 yielded good results. Growing mediums have similar effects with soil cultivation.
