Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, one of the major problems of Turkey; ?transportation? is examined in logistics. Detailed information about the concepts of logistics, transportation, combined transport, optimization and Genetic Algorithms is given. The importance, applicability, advantages-disadvantages and the future of Combined Transport is discussed. The model which is created for the case of Turkey in this thesis, is a kind of Traveling Salesman Problem(TSP). TSP can be used to design a transportation network. Methods to solve the TSP problems are classified in two groups. First of these is exact algorithms, and the other is heuristics. The time of solution and the complexity of model can change the methods which will be used in the problem. In this study, Genetic Algorithms is proposed as an optimization technic for the model and solved by a Genetic Algorithms based software. Outputs of the program is given realistic ideas to design a effective and productive transportation network in Turkey.
