Comparison of interpolation methods used in local geoid determination

Abstract (EN)

In this research, the region between 36.5 ° < 𝜑 < 40.5 ° latitude and 26.5 ° < 𝜆 < 33° longitude has been chosen as geoid calculation area. Two micro and macro-scaled testing webs have been generated in order to analyse the effects of distance between the points on interpolated geoid heights. Within the scope of macro web, 85 reference and 35 interpolation points, totally 120 points have been chosen and withing the scope of micro web 8 reference and 3 interpolation points, totally 11 points will be used. In this study, it's aimed to determine the local geoid models required for the transition from ellipsoidal heights to orthometric heights. It's aimed to identify the interpolation method that gives the most accurate result by comparing the Mean Squared Error (MSE) values of Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation method, Kriging (KRG) interpolation method, Minimum Curvature (MC) interpolation method, Radial Basis Function (RBF) interpolation method and Modified Shepard (MSH) interpolation method used to determine the local geoid model.
