Abstract (EN)

Magnesium is the lightest one of the all construction metals. This materil has a weight feature like as a plastic in spite of has a strength like a metal. Magnesium is a metal which can be used a lot of sectors with its suitable characteristics, especially prefers for automotive and aerospace industry because of its light weight properties. Die casting of magnesium has become the fastest growing up and the most globally developing section of the magnesium industry. Production of the magnesium alloys with die casting process has an economical benefit which can not be presented by any other product systems. Die casting of magnesium alloys is an ideal process for high capacity production conditions because of its appropriateness for automation systems. In spite of die casting is a precision process, there are lots of factors which are effective on the product quality and mechanical properties. These factors consist of the casting and die construction and the process parameters. Defectly selection of the process parameters during the casting operation can cause castings which have wrong and bad mechanical properties even they have perfect design features. The process parameters are the most important factors that are effective on the casting quality, strength of products and account of defect formation. The correct selection of process parameters mean to correct production of the casting. Magnesium die casting defects source from lots of factors which have relationship between each other. Wrong process parameters, fault casting and die design, bad effects of the impurities in the alloy constitute together the defect factors. For casting products which have good mechanical properties, low porosity content and flawless features; the casting process should be made under high injection pressure, with low casting temperatures, optimum flow velocity and optimum die temperatures.
