Performance analysis of OECD countries under macro economic criteria with multi-criterial decision-making methods for 2014-2018

Decision making has been one of the most important factors for individuals, institutions and organizations to continue their activities in all areas of life. Mankind has been constantly in a position to make decisions for different situations from birth to death. The use of analytical methods in order to make decisions in a correct and purposeful manner prevents regret and error in decision making. For this purpose, Multi Criteria Decision Making methods are used to reach the most appropriate result by evaluating many criteria together in a decision making problem. In this study, rankings were obtained by evaluating under macro economic criteria according to the development levels of 36 countries that are members of OECD. The OECD study (The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Deveploment), Eurostat (European Community Statistical Office) and TSI (Turkey Statistical Institute) based on data from the OECD countries, including in Turkey's macroeconomic performance evaluation of Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods that entropy, Gray Relational Analysis and ARAS were used. The relationship between the ranks obtained as a result of the methods used was determined using the Spearman Correlation coefficient. The years between 2014-2018 were preferred as the study range. In the study, first of all, macro economic criteria were determined in order to compare the economic performances of the countries. These criteria are; inflation rate, interest rate, real effective exchange rate, reserve assets, exports of goods, imports of goods, foreign direct investments, gross domestic product, growth rate and unemployment rate. The aim of this thesis is to determine the economic positions of 36 OECD member countries, to observe the economic development levels according to the years and to see the place of each country in the rankings compared to other countries. Also purpose is to specify the position of Turkey among OECD countries.
