Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of laceback and uprighter techniques on maxillary canine retraction on digital models and panoramic radiographs and to compare the results biomechanically. Materials and Methods: Sixteen patients (10 female, 6 male) with a mean chronological age of 16,26 years, whose upper canines were located in the high vestibule and who needed fixed orthodontic treatment with bilateral first premolar extraction were included in this study. 0,018 inch Roth brackets were used in patients. In this study, which was planned in a split-mouth design, laceback was used on one side and uprighter was used on the other side. Tooth movements were measured on three-dimensional models and panoramic radiographs taken at the beginning of treatment (T0), 2 months later (T1), and 3,5 months (T2). Two-way analysis of variance was applied in repeated measures to compare the differences between groups. Results: While there was a statistically significant difference between the groups in the measurements of canine distalization, rotation and molar angulation, no statistically significant difference was observed in other parameters. Conclusion: With uprighter, the canine was distalized much faster and more without complications such as unwanted tipping of the tooth. Thus, it was concluded that uprighter was a very successful treatment method in such cases.
