Abstract (EN)
Local researchers are among the indispensable information and document sources of cities. They have a positive contribution to the scientific and cultural life of the city they live in with their studies. Celal Yalvaç is one of the first local researchers that comes to mind when Malatya is mentioned, with his archive studies and the rich library he has created since the early 1950s. Celal Yalvaç, known mostly for his investigative journalist identity, is one of the most important elements and basic building blocks of not only Malatya local press but also Malatya cultural world. He devoted his life to creating a cultural memory for Malatya, contributed to dozens of scientific works, and did not refrain from making material and moral sacrifices for this cause even in the scarcest times. Since his youth, he visited all the districts, villages and towns of Malatya, photographing everything that can be evaluated in terms of many disciplines of social sciences, especially the castle ruins, mosques, tombs, tombs and visiting places. has created. Celal Yalvaç has made significant contributions to many scientific researches on social, cultural, historical and political issues related to Malatya, with this archive he has, and has also published many articles on these subjects in the national and local press. A journalist, photographer, researcher and writer, the published articles of Celal Yalvaç have always shed light on a subject. He made the first studies on Malatya history, Malatya inscriptions, Malatya press history, place names in Malatya and Malatya mosques and conveyed important information to scientists working in these fields. It has crowned its contributions to Malatya's cultural life with the "Private Celal Yalvaç Library", which has approximately 15,000 books created in 2017. In the study, it is aimed to bring to light the thoughts and studies of Celal Yalvaç and to introduce his works and his contributions to the Malatya scientific world.
