Abstract (EN)
With this study, the socio-economic characteristics of the farms producing organic apricots in Malatya province have been studied. For this purpose, 62 organic apricot production farms were interviewed and the data were collected by questionnaire. Demographic characteristics of the producers, land assets, production amounts and production data were determined by the survey. Farms are divided into 3 groups (0 to 30 decares, 31 to 50 decares, 51+ decares), taking into account the apricot production areas. As a result of the research, when all the farms are taken into consideration, average total apricot fields are 41,6 decare, average gross production values are calculated as 157.960,5 TL and average absolute profit is calculated as 83.876,6 TL. The biggest problem encountered in apricot production was the input prices, and the most common diseases were leafwort (freckle) and monilya disease. Apricot production is highly influenced by late spring frosts.
