Determination of yield and quality characteristics of different corn varieties growed at Manisa / Beydere ecological conditions

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to determine yield and quality performance of 12 hybrid corn varieties (SY Gladius, Kalumet, Kebeos, DKC 6980, DKC 6630, DKC 6724, DKC 6876, PL 700, SY Hydro, Katone, DKC 6590, Kefrancos) which are commonly grown in Manisa province as main crop production. For his purpose, field experiment was carried out with 3 replications according to the randomized block design in 2019 corn growing period. As a results of the study the plant height varried between 242-271,3 cm, ear width between 16,5-20,66 cm, ear diameter between 46,53-50,48 mm, cob diameter between 23,26-27,77 mm, grain yield between 1248,86-1753,73 kg/da and thousand grain weight between 293,33-415 g. Among the quality parameters values obtained in the range of %8,28-10,02 for protein content, %62,24-67,6 for starch content %2,30-2,51 for fibre content and %1,36-1,50 for crude ash content respectively. It was observed that hybrid corn varieties examined in the study obtained different results in terms of yield and quality. However Katone variety has more prominent than other varieties.
