Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTOne of the most important sources, which the people are exposured to radiation in building, is the238 232natural radionuclides in building materials. This radiation is resulted from U, Th series radionuclides and40K in building materials. There are a lot of studies examined the radioactivity in building materials in thedifferent countries.238 232Th and 40K in the bricks, cement samples and theIn this study, the activity concentrations of U,sand samples that are produced from the sand quarry, used as building materials in Manisa country, have beenanalyzed by gamma-ray spectroscopy coupled with NaI (Tl) detector. Doses that people living in Manisa wereexposed because of these building materials have been calculated.Keywords: Building materials; radium equivalent; indoor gamma radiation; natural radioactivity
