Abstract (EN)

This study explores the potential use of mushrooms in woven fabric design through the principles of biomimicry. The research addresses the increasingly prominent concept of sustainability in the fields of fashion and textiles, approaching it as a theoretical framework while examining how the structural and surface characteristics of mushrooms can be applied to design processes. Biological features such as the mycelial structure, natural textures, and color variations of mushrooms were considered in the development of woven fabric surfaces. The study was conducted using a practice-based research method, resulting in the creation of various woven structures, surface applications, and fabric samples. Visual and material data gathered throughout the design process provided a foundation for adapting the physical properties of mushrooms into textile surfaces. The research emphasizes a design approach informed by the observation of nature and discusses the relevance of biological structures in textile design through the lens of biomimicry. The aim of the study is to reinterpret and transform mushroom-derived structures into woven and to contribute to the field by offering a perspective that links natural processes with creative design practice. The findings present proposals for rethinking design through biological forms and offer a basis for further exploration within the framework of biomimicry in textile design.
