Abstract (EN)

Energy is a necessity for the continuation of life. Energy is needed for the development, improvement, welfare and quality of life of societies. Humans have largely met their energy needs from fossil fuels. It is predicted that the reserves of fossil fuels may one day be depleted and it is known that the gases released by the use of fossil fuels have a negative impact on the environment. With the huge increase in the world population, rapid development of technology, urbanization and industrial growth, energy consumption and demand for energy are increasing day by day. It is predicted that the reserves of oil in 2050, natural gas in 2070 and coal in 2150 will decrease or may run out of. In addition to this, considering the damages caused by these energy sources to the environment, it causes people to turn more towards renewable energy sources. In this thesis, the effect of photovoltaic (PV) systems, which convert solar energy into electrical energy, from renewable energy sources, on the output efficiency of photovoltaic panels by coating the outer glass surface with silica-based chemical material and protecting it from dust and dirt was examined. For this purpose, three TYPE SLX 36 P40 model PV panels (675x480x20 mm) were used in an open area for 7 months. Panel 3 was sprayed on the glass surface with silica-based material once a week and the glass surface was coated with this material, Panel 2 was cleaned manually with a cloth once a week, and Panel 1 was cleaned manually with a cloth once a week, except for rain. Open circuit voltages and short circuit currents of each of the panels were measured every day at certain times in the morning, noon and evening and power calculations were made and the values were recorded. It was concluded that the short circuit current and power parameters of the panel coated with silica-based material were higher than the other two panels. It is also predicted that it can significantly increase electricity generation in large solar power plants.
