Abstract (EN)

This study aims to identify vowel reductions observed in Marmara region, examine the reasons behind these reductions, determine which vowels fall in which parts of words, and analyze where vowel reductions occur more frequently in words. By identifying vowel reductions, the study aims to evaluate the most commonly reduced vowels in Marmara region, their reasons for reduction, and the positions where reductions occur. The study is shaped using qualitative research methods, specifically document analysis. Compilation texts from research on Marmara region were meticulously examined, and a comprehensive literature review was conducted. A total of 30 different works forming the universe of the study were subjected to detailed analysis from a phonological perspective. The identified vowel reductions were thoroughly evaluated, presented in tables, and interpreted. The findings of this study are significant not only for Marmara region but also can guide similar studies in other regional Turkish dialects. Therefore, this study not only brings a new perspective to dialect research but also provides guidance for future phonological studies.
