Determination of port selection criteria through the analytical hierarchy process in The Marmara Region

As one of the various services within tourism services, marina and yacht management increases its attractiveness and importance day by day. With these components, maritime tourism also shows an undeniably important development. Our country has a coastline of approximately 8350 kilometers in length, but has not yet been able to develop such a long coastline in yacht and marina management. Nevertheless, our country has become competitive with neighboring countries with which we share the same seas. For the sustainability and development of this situation, it is indispensable for marina and port businesses to know the criteria according to which their customers will prefer the marina business. These criteria are categorized as location, safety and security, reliability, social and technical services and price. In order to make the criteria sought by individuals who will visit marinas in the Marmara Region more meaningful, the main criteria were also divided into sub-criteria and presented to the preference of the participants in the survey study. In the introduction part of the study, basic information about marinas and yacht businesses is mentioned, in the second part, the services and experiences provided in marinas are mentioned, in the third part, the survey data obtained are interpreted according to the analytical hierarchy process, and in the last part, the results obtained are mentioned and suggestions are made for the betterment of marina businesses.
