Abstract (EN)

This thesis focuses on the examination of the restoration works carried out on Kasr-ı Hümayun, Limonluk, Mabeyn-i Hümayun, Çadır Köşkü, and Paşalar Dairesi, which are located in the Maslak Palaces. It is known that Sultan Abdulhamid II played a significant role in each structure of the Maslak Palaces and spent most of his princely years in these palaces. Moreover, the intrigue of the throne being invited in the upper salon of Kasr-ı Hümayun has intensified my curiosity about this particular structure, leading me to write this thesis. The historical background, location, design concept, floor plans, materials, ornamentation, and the current state of the Maslak Palaces were examined. Photographs and documents obtained from the National Palaces Directorate were reviewed. On-site visits to the Maslak Palaces were conducted for photography, analysis, and observation to examine the restoration processes they underwent and their present condition. Generally, the restoration works focused on preserving the original elements, including ceiling decorations, gold leaf embellishments on the doors, and the replacement and painting of wooden elements on the facades. The restoration processes aimed to retain the authenticity of the structures. However, the palaces are currently in need of further restoration.
