Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate the impact of the teaching method using clues in the representation of decimal numbers and percentage topics, which are subdomains of mathematics in the 5th grade, on students' achievements. The study was conducted with a total of 28 students, 14 in the Control Group (CG) and 14 in the Experimental Group (EG), in the 5th grade of a public school in Elazığ during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The study was carried out using a pre-test, post-test, and controlled semi-experimental method. In this study, which was conducted to examine the effect of clues, data were collected using the Ministry of National Education (MEB) 5th Grade Mathematics Achievement Comprehension Test 7 (Representation of Decimal Numbers) and 5th Grade Mathematics Achievement Comprehension Test 12 (Percentages). The data obtained from these measurement tools were evaluated using statistical analysis methods. The paired samples t-test was used to determine whether there was a difference in the achievement levels of students in the experimental and control groups before and after the application. For comparing the pre-test and post-test achievement scores of the students in the experimental group, a related samples t-test was used. Additionally, for comparing the achievement scores, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was employed. Through the analysis of the data, it was investigated whether there was a significant difference in terms of success between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that there was a similarity in the mathematics achievement between the experimental group, which received education through the instructional method involving errorless teaching techniques along with cues in addition to the existing teaching methods, and the control group, which was taught using the existing teaching methods. Researchers are recommended to conduct further studies that investigate the instructional method involving cues in conjunction with other cognitive factors that influence mathematics achievement. Keywords: Mathematics Education, teaching method with clues, clue-based teaching method, middle school students.
