Survey on digital citizenship levels between mathematics teacher candidates and other teacher candidates for different variables

This study has been carried out in the screening model in order to determine the digital citizenship levels of Mathematics teacher candidates and other teacher candidates and to examine them in terms of different variables. The sample of this study consists of 635 university students studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of Fırat University Faculty of Education, Primary Mathematics teaching, Turkish teaching, Science teaching, Social Studies teaching, Preschool teaching, Classroom teaching and Guidance and Psychological Counseling in the 2022-2023 academic year. 'Personal Information Form' and 'Digital Citizenship Scale' have been used as data collection tools. According to the findings attained as a result of the research, it has been determined that the levels of digital citizenship and the sub-dimensions of digital citizenship of the teacher candidates participating in the study is not differ considerably according to the branches. It has been determined that the digital ethics, digital law, digital security, digital trade score averages of teacher candidates differ considerably according to gender; digital health, digital rights and responsibility, digital access, digital communication and digital literacy score averages do not differ considerably according to gender. It has been observed that the digital citizenship dimensions of the participants are not differ statistically considerably according to age; it has been observed that it differs statistically considerably according to their income levels. In addition, it has been found that the digital citizenship dimensions of teacher candidates differ statistically considerably according to the means of internet usage. According to the results attained in this study, it has been seen that it is important in terms of conducting quantitative and qualitative research on digital citizenship, determining the trainings to be given to teacher candidates on this subject and the content to be carried out in these trainings.
