Abstract (EN)

Maximalism is a significant art movement that has emerged in 1980, in response to minimalism. In light of the nature of this particular movement, the direction, accordingly, has been towards an intense, exaggerated and a complex trend. In addition to the distinct changes above, it has also had a great influence on certain fields such as those: ceramic, painting, sculpture, fashion design, accessory design and lastly music. In the research, in addition to the design components such as those: measurement, ratio, space, and colour effects, the following elements were meticulously examined: the movement's fashion and accessory design, its' place in art, classical and modern art movements, the expressions of the artists that took place in that era, and the situation whether the artists were truly impacted by their productions. Last but not least, it should be noted that, in maximalism movement, the light was shed upon design examples as well as fashion designers who are involved with clothing and accessory design. The research has been eloquently prepared prioritizing and focusing on practicality. Within this framework, a shirt dress, which is consisted of three different parts, has been designed by taking into account the philosophical argument that suggests "less is more", and combining it with the current fashion trends. One of these designs has been chosen and carried into practice. In view of the research, it has been noted and concluded that the fashion designers and brands are immensely affected by classical and modern art movements, the expressions of the artists that take place in those movements, as well as by the artworks that belong to the artists within the movement. That being said, in clothing design, the fact that the colours which are used are complicated, and are combined with an intense texture as well as the designs that do not have much space in between have been discovered. In conclusion, it has been acknowledged that the influence of this particular art movement, namely Maximalism, is still prevalent on various fields including but not limited to fashion and accessory design; as a result, suggestions have been produced and presented in accordance with the accurate findings through this research. Keywords: Maximalism, fashion designers, artists.
