Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to propose a feasible management and organizational model for mega events by examining the managerial and functional activities that play a role in the management process. In this context, firstly the concept of activity and types of activity are examined from a broad perspective, then concept of efficiency management in mega events is discussed in detail in terms of business functions. In the process of designing a management and organizational model for mega events, Eskişehir 2013 Culture and Arts Capital of Turkic World event, which happened in 2013 in Turkey for the first time and also is a mega event, was investigated as a case research. Within the scope of the study, the current management and organizational structure of the Eskişehir 2013 Turkish World Cultural Capital, document research and interview techniques. Later, a survey was conducted to determine the attitudes and thoughts of the local people regarding the event. As a result of the evaluation of all the findings obtained, In order to solve some of the problems and problems that have been reached, it was decided to apply the "Event Management Knowledge Areas (EMBOK)" model for mega events, in which an independent and central event agency will take main role, to Eskişehir 2013 TDKB event. As a result of the implementation of the model, some problems related to the planning and organizing of the event have survived and it has been achieved that, with the participation of local people, a project and stakeholder management structure is more suitable for such mega events.
