Abstract (EN)
The aim of this semi-experimental study that took place at Adnan Menderes University Practice and Research Hospital was to create a communication list for patient communication and determine its effectiveness. The study sample consisted of 60 intubated conscious patients at the Anesthesiology and Reanimation and Surgical and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit who had intubated. The patients were divided into the intervention and control groups. Study data were obtained by using the nurse, physician, patient and relatives opinion to determine Communication Needs List, prepared utilizing the literature and Questionnaire to Determine Patient Opinion with Communication while being intubated. Data analysis was with SPSS 15,0 (Statistical Package for the Social Science) descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test. The mean age was 61.86±12.92 years in intervention group, 60.63±13.55 years in control group and 76,7 % of patients were primary school graduates. The communication need list was satisfied by 66,7% and could expresed themself by 73,3% of the intervention group patients regarding the communication between the nurses and the patients (p<0.05). In conclusion, we determined that the use of communication need list was an effective method in communicating with intubated patients.
