Analyzing Melike Günyüz's children's books in terms of themain elements of children's literature and educational

One of the main purposes of children's literature is to strengthen children's reading habits and give them literary pleasure. For this reason, it is necessary to bring children together with qualified works of children's literature and to ensure that books take a more central place in children's lives. At this point, it should be kept in mind that children's literature is not only a tool for conveying information, but also supports the emotional, social and cognitive development of children. Books should be prepared in accordance with children's age levels and developmental characteristics. Elements such as external structural features, the way the content is presented and language and expression constitute the main elements of children's literature. The aim of this study is to analyze Melike Günyüz's children's books in the context of the main elements of children's literature. The basic elements are considered as external structure-internal structure and language and expression. External structure features are analyzed as size, paper, page layout, letters, cover-binding, picture; internal structure features are analyzed as subject, main idea, heroes, event, educational messages and language expression. This study was conducted with document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, and the descriptive method was used for data analysis. Melike Günyüz's children's literature works Keloğlan Suskunlar Ülkesinde, Keloğlan Şaşkınlar Ülkesinde, Nasrettin Hoca ile Cimri Komşunun Hikayesi, İlkbahar Prensi and Gakgukların Maceraları (6 books) Gümüş Göl Serisi (10 books) were scanned with the descriptive analysis method. The selected books were examined in detail in line with the specified criteria and as a result of this examination, it was concluded that the works have qualities suitable for the basic elements of children's literature in terms of design and content features.
