Investigation of energy efficiency of some renewable energy investments within the rural development support in Mersin

In this study, it was aimed to investigate energy efficiency in agriculture based investments using renewable energy supported within the scope of rural development supports in Mersin. In this context, some agricultural enterprises supported and operating, energy efficiency, added value realized with the renewable energy facility established, and the amount of decrease in carbon dioxide emissions were determined. At the peanut processing plant established with a capacity of 118.80 kW, a total of 182.952 kW of electricity is produced in 1 year. After the GES investment, the energy efficiency of the facility increased by 55.52%. The added value created for the facility with 1 kW energy increased by 1.26 TL / kW. The decrease in carbon dioxide emission was 91.476 kgCO2 and 3.567.564 kgCO2, respectively, according to the electricity produced in hydroelectric and thermal power plants. Carob processing plant was established with a capacity of 297 kW and a total of 490.050 kW electricity is produced in 1 year. However, the energy efficiency of the facility increased by 68.47%. The value added for 1 kW energy increased by 165,284 TL / kW. The decrease in carbon dioxide emission was 245.025 kgCO2 and 9.555.975 kgCO2 respectively, according to the electricity produced in hydroelectric and thermal power plants. Banana production facility was established with a capacity of 100 kW and a total of 191,000 kW of electricity is produced in 1 year. The energy efficiency of the facility has increased by 56.55%. The added value created in the facility against 1 kW of energy increased by 3.03 TL / kW. The decrease in carbon dioxide emission is 95.500 kgCO2 and 3.724.500 kgCO2, respectively, according to the electricity produced in hydroelectric and thermal power plants.
