Abstract (EN)
Scorpion poisoning can sometimes be seen clinically only in the form of burning pain and red lesion in the area where the sting occurs, but sometimes it can be observed with the deterioration of internal systems, especially cardiological and respiratory systems, which seriously threaten health. Scorpion venom is a neurotoxic secretion consisting of many proteins, peptides and biologically active compounds found in the telson of scorpions and is generally used in the capture and digestion of prey. Although scorpion envenomation may seem dangerous, the peptide structure of the venom is very important for the development of new drugs for the pharmaceutical industry. The lack of effective drugs, especially for resistant bacteria, puts patients and treatment centres in difficulty and pushes scientists to search for new alternative treatments. In this study, the antibacterial activity of Mesobuthus gibbosus scorpion venom was investigated. In the study, anti-bacterial effects were observed by applying crude venom to Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris and Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria by dripping method in appropriate environment. It was determined that scorpion venom was effective on bacteria.
