Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines the method of using hadiths in Ahmet Avni Konuk's commentary on the Mathnawi. The main objective of the study is to reveal Konuk's approach to hadiths and to determine how these hadiths are interpreted within the context of his Mathnawi commentary. The study first addresses the relationship between Rumi's Mathnawi and hadith literature, followed by a discussion on the significance of hadiths within the tradition of Sufi exegesis. The life and scholarly identity of Ahmet Avni Konuk are also examined. The main part of the study explores how hadiths are incorporated into the commentary, the use of sources, literal and allegorical interpretations, methods of reasoning, and the use of hadiths transmitted through kashf (spiritual unveiling). The findings demonstrate that Konuk does not merely cite hadiths, but rather interprets them through a Sufi lens and integrates them into the multi-layered meanings of the Mathnawi. This makes his commentary not only a literary work but also a spiritual exegesis. Thus, the study contributes to understanding how hadiths are contextualized within Sufi thought and commentary traditions.
