Abstract (EN)

The goal of this study, to synthesize a novel Cd2+ ion-imprinted polymeric sorbent and to investigate the use of this synthesized polymeric sorbent for selective Cd2+ ion adsorption in aqueous medium. Diphenylcarbazide (DPC), methacrylic acid (MAA), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) were used respectively as ligand, monomer, cross-linker, and initiator in polymerization. Cd(II)-ion imprinted polymer (Cd(II)-IIP) was obtained by the removal of template ion i.e. Cd2+ from the polymeric particles via extraction. The obtained Cd(II)-IIP was employed in selective adsorption of Cd2+ from aqueous solutions. Adsorption equilibrium for Cd2+ was reached in 30 min at optimum pH 6,0 and the maximum adsorption capacity of Cd(II)-IIP was found as 15.9 mg/g. Cd(II)-IIP showed high selectivity toward Cd2+ in the presence of other coexisting competitive ions Cu2+, Ni2+ ve Pb2+. Moreover, Cd(II)-IIP is very stable due to its reusability.
