Abstract (EN)
We often encounter artificial electromagnetic structures in antenna and microwave technologies. These structures, which are designed periodically, can have unusual properties and the most prominent are Metamaterial (MTM) structures, which have negative electrical permittivity and negative magnetic permeability at the same time. In addition, resonator structures showing different electromagnetic properties are frequently used together with developing technology. In this thesis, microwave frequency band imaging was performed by using artificial electromagnetic structures. The proposed structures are used in the most commonly used microwave frequency bands and the structures that improve the signal absorption and antenna parameters are presented in this thesis. Firstly, the MTM-based periodic structure, which absorbs broadband signal, was designed and analyzed in a microwave simulator based on finite integration technique (FIT). Energy harvesting of the proposed absorber structure was also carried out and experimental results were obtained and compared. Afterwards, three different structures that can work in different frequency regions with MTM-based unit cells that make signal absorption and energy harvesting are designed for microwave imaging and experimentally analyzed. In addition, the electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure is designed and experimentally implemented to improve the low profile antenna parameters. In another study, cavity resonator structure and EBG integrated monopoly antenna structure have been proposed. The proposed mushroom-shaped EBG monopole antenna integrated cavity resonator structure has been used in order to make microwave imaging in the last study. The different structures were produced by using LPKF E33 circuit printer and the experimental datas were obtained with the help of KEYSIGHT brand PNA-L N5234A Network Analyzer. The numerical and experimental results of the proposed structures are in great harmony.
