Abstract (EN)

In the thesis.study, graphene.quantum.dots (GQD) / functionalized.multi-walled.carbon nanotube (f-MWCT) composite were synthesized so that methanol can.be as a catalyst in the fuel.cell. The properties that.can.be utilized in the applications of.the said catalyst in optical, electronic and gasoline engineering have been determined by literature research and its effectiveness is supported in the studies conducted. The structures of composite materials was illuminated by using a scanning.electron.microscopy. (SEM), raman.spectroscopy, x-ray.diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectroscopy, fourier.transform.infrared.spectroscopy (FTIR) and.electrochemical.impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique. After the characterization studies of the composite material obtained, the electrocatalytic activity to methyl alcohol used as fuel was examined with the use cylclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) techniques. Specific surface areas (SSA) of the electrodes were calculated after preparing GQD, f-MWCT and GQD / f-MWCT nanomaterials and modified glassy carbon electrodes (GCE). The surface area of composite material prepared according to SSA values was found to be 2.34 and 2.84 times higher than the surface areas of GQD and f-MWCT nanomaterials. Finally, in the light of CA experiments, the carbon-based composite material prepared within the scope of the thesis study was.found to be.more efficient than other catalysts used in.the literature during the oxidation of methyl alcohol.
