Investigation of sensitivity of daptomycin with invitro e-test method in strains of vancomycin-resistant enterococcus and methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus

Many serious infections are caused by Gram positive organisms in both community and hospital settings. At same time, multiple antibiotic resistance is on rise, often leaving few therapeutic options. Infections caused by Gram positive pathogens are increasingly difficult to treat due to pathogens such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin resistant enterococci (VRE). Daptomycin recently developed, including MRSA and VRE broad domain with aerobic and anaerobic Gram positive antimicrobial agent. Infections caused by Gram positive pathogens resistant in a new treatment option. In our study, isolated 81 pieces MRSA and 11 pieces VRE from samples sent to the Central Laboratory of Microbiology Department of Fırat University Hospital between October 2011-June 2013 dates were included. The susceptibility of these strains to daptomycin E-test (Biomerieux SA France) with my Conquer CLSI considering the recommendations on Mueller Hinton agar (Oxoid UK) was determined. These results Phoenix BD (Becton Dickinson, USA) was confirmed using fully automated bacteria identification apparatus. In our study, Biomerieux SA-France's E-tests were used and of daptomycin MIC values and S.aureus MIC 50: 0.5 microg / ml, MIC90: 1 microg / ml, E.faecium MIC50: 2.5 microg / ml, MIC90: 3 mg / ml, respectively. The bacteria were susceptible to all of daptomycin. According to the results obtained in this study, daptomycin, by MRSA and VRE can be used as an alternative to that infection was found to be one of the most important antibiotics. Newer agents are effective in the treatment of serious Gram positive infections; however, resistant isolates of Gram positive organisms. There is a clinical need for new antimicrobials that have suitable pharmacokinetic properties and safety profiles, with activity against these Gram positive pathogens.
