Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is intented to examine repair and fortification of existing reinforced concrete and masonry buildings against earthquake. The application details which belong to each method that takes place in the study, are presented in order to explain the contribution of each method, to system of the buildings or the building element.After presenting incoordination positions and rules for reinforced concrete and masonry buildings, performans levels of existing buildings are evaluated according to DBYBHY 2007, before fortification.Some of the reinforced concrete and masonry buildings in İzmir city, Bornova and Seferihisar county, are examined, in this study. The buildings are examined in scope of DBYBHY 2007, incoordination positions are determined and it?s observed that thay have a low earthquake resistance. It is observed that the buildings with performance analysis under loads similar to eartquake are in inadequate capacity in terms of life safety and different fortification models are designed by choosing different fortification methods according to position of the buildings. The performance analysis are maden again after fortification projects and results about life safety are obtained. Lastly, the advantages and disadvantages of the fortification projects are presented. The cost analysis for the fortification models are calculated using, Turkey Ministry of Public Works 2010 cost list and the economy of fortification models are inquired.
