Abstract (EN)

Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that cause great loss of life and property all over the world. An important part of Turkey is also included under the threat of earthquakes. There have been many earthquakes in the past, causing a lot of loss of life and property. While tens of thousands of people have been lost in earthquakes in the last century, thousands of buildings have collapsed and many structures have been damaged. Therefore, all the structures that we will build must be resistant to earthquake and reliable. Some construction rules are needed for the structures to be earthquake resistant and to minimize earthquake damage. These construction rules were determined by the "Regulation on Buildings to be Built in Earthquake Zones" published by the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement. In this study, firstly, the rules and parameters required for earthquake calculation and reinforced concrete design in TDY-2007 and TBDY-2018 earthquake regulations are included. Then different examples were selected for the new reinforced concrete building design. The selected samples are designed according to strength in terms of TDY-2007 and TBDY-2018 regulations. In the designed examples, the effect of ground class and number of floors on the design was examined for both regulations. From the results obtained, natural vibration periods, base shear forces, relative floor shifts were compared numerically and the differences were shown on the selected samples. The next results were interpreted by supporting them with tables and graphics.
