Effects of micro-nutrients applications on yield and some quality traits of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.)

This research was carried out in 2017 in the research trial area of the Field Crops Department of Agricultural Faculty of Namık Kemal University as overseeding in single location (Tekirdağ). Experiment was established as 3 replications according to the Experimental Design of Split Plots in Random Blocks. In this study, Dinçer and Balcı safflower varieties developed by Eskişehir Crossing Zone Agricultural Research Institute were used, Zinc (3000ppm), Iron (2500pmm) and Manganese (3000ppm) elements and their combinations (Zn + Fe, Zn + Mn, Fe + Mn and Zn + Fe + Mn) were applied in three different periods (bolting, capsule binding and flowering period). For this purpose, in the study plant height, branch number, capsule number, number of seeds per capsule, capsule diameter, flowering days number, maturity days number, seed yield, 1000 seed weight, hull ratio, oil ratio, protein ratio and oil yield were investigated According to the obtained data, in terms of seed yield and oil ratio, as well as differences between varieties and periods, period x fertilizer interaction was also found significant. The highest seed yield (116.667 kg / da) was obtained with Zn element applied in the bolting period. The differences between the varieties were not found significant and 102,227 kg / da seed yield was obtained in Dinçer variety and 95,999 kg / da seed yield was obtained in Balcı variety. Differences between varieties were significant in the oil ratio, it was obtained as 27.384 % for Balcı variety and 24.384% for Dinçer variety. The highest oil ratio was reached with the Mn element applied in the bolting period (27.782%).
