Abstract (EN)
In engineering studies, the interest in the electromagnetic field-related metamaterials (MTM) is increasing. MTM is the most general definition of materials that are not found in nature in terms of electromagnetic properties. These materials are materials that can be physically formed as a result of combining known materials and can be artificially produced in laboratories. There are many kinds of antennas such as patch, horn, monopoly, microstrip and yagi antenna. In this thesis, the design of the microstrip antenna has been made, and some parameters of this antenna have been requested to be improved with MTM structures. These parameters are the gain and directivity of the antenna. In addition, the obtained data were trained to artificial neural networks and the actual values were estimated. The data obtained as a result of the interaction of MTM structures with the antenna are trained using artificial neural networks (ANN) technique. The aim of using the ANN technique is to determine the best estimated MTM structure with ANN. Firstly in this thesis study, 40 random MTM structures were designed and then analyzed in CST MWS simulation program. Each of these structures consists of 6x6 unit square patches. In order to find the dielectric coefficient (ɛ), magnetic permeability (µ) and refractive index (n) of the structures, parameter data S11 and S21 were obtained in the CST MWS simulation program. The specific aspect of the thesis study is to examine the effect of random and symmetrical MTM structures on antenna gain and directivity and to estimate these parameter values by the ANN technique. After the interaction of the MTM structures with the antenna, antenna gain and directivity were tried to be improved. The values obtained were estimated by ANN and the best-predicted structure was determined. In the second study, the SRR structure with C-shaped MTM was designed. The resonance frequency and S11 value of the antenna were examined by changing the dimensions of the C- shaped SRR structure. For the ANN technique, the data set was prepared from the new resonance frequency and S11 values of the antenna. These values were educated in ANN application and the values were estimated. Finally, the laboratory produced the antenna and MTM structure. Measurements were made after the production of the structures and compared with the simulation results. In this way, necessary investigations have been made and the result of the intended study has been reached.
